Old Istanbul, located on the historic peninsula, is built on seven hills and is known as Yedi Tepe, or “The City of Seven Hills.” This title was inherited from Byzantine Constantinople, which was deliberately constructed on seven hills to mirror the seven hills of Rome.

Over the past 10 years, the number of tourists has increased by 66%, and in 2023, an impressive 17,037,000 tourists visited Istanbul.
